Tito Stagno and the Moon: a lifelong love
Tito Stagno, historic journalist and RAI commentator, had a deep connection with the Moon which marked his career and his life.
Passion for space:
From a young age, Stagno was fascinated by astronomy and dreamed of flying among the stars.
In 1961, he joined the editorial staff of the RAI Telegiornale and began to deal with astronautics.
He followed the Apollo missions with anxious anticipation, commenting live on Yuri Gagarin's flight and Valentina Tereshkova's adventure.
The 1969 moon landing:
On the night of July 20, 1969, Stagno made history with his commentary of the Apollo 11 moon landing.
His words, full of emotion and adrenaline, told the whole world about an epochal moment.
The phrase "He touched! He touched the lunar soil!" he became an indelible icon of Italian collective memory.
A constant commitment:
In the following years, Stagno continued to follow space exploration with dedication.
He has written books, made documentaries and participated in numerous conferences to spread knowledge of the cosmos.
